Black & White Magazine 2019 Single Image Contest Entry

The rush of the holidays are over and I am able to relax (a little bit). I'm finally checking out this magazine I was published in as one of my pictures was selected as a winning submission in the Black & White Magazine 2019 Single Image Contest Children category! It really is such an awesome feeling and honor. The image was shot using my Pentax 645nii medium format film camera, using Kodak 400TX film.

Emily & Family Mini Photo Session

Emily approached me wanting to do a quick photo session while her dad and brother were in town visiting for the holidays. It was a very quick session and I wish we had more time because Emily and her family are just so photogenic! And her and her husband’s two daughters are just too precious. I hope you enjoy looking through their photos!

Holiday Trains at Morris Arboretum

My daughter has been on a train obsession for quite some time. Any chance I get, I take her to see trains and Morris Arboretum is one of those places I take her often to see them. During the holidays, the arboretum decorates the garden railway with so many holiday lights and other decorations. Of course my daughter loved every moment of watching the trains (especially Thomas & friends). I hope you enjoy the photos!

Megan & Family Photo Session

A little over a week ago I had a wonderful time shooting two families. I met Renee through my daughter’s school and I was so excited when she approached me wanting to do a family photo session for their holiday cards. She also recommended her sister Megan to me, who wanted to do a holiday photo session as well. The session was early in the morning and it was very cold outside. While sessions do not always go as planned, it was hard to tell from most of these photos that the little one wanted nothing to do about taking pictures. But when in doubt, always have lollipops on you (a lesson I have taken and will make sure I have at every photo session!). I hope you enjoy looking at photos!

Geib Family Beach Maternity Photo Session

I was so excited when my friend Megan approached me about a gift certificate for her brother and his wife. They are expecting and she wanted to gift them a maternity photo session. This session was done at Robert Moses on Long Island and I had such a wonderful time capturing the growing family! The pictures below are a mixture of medium format film and digital. Enjoy!

Location Scouting & an Impromptu Photo Session

Recently myself and two photographer friends went scouting for some new photo locations. I also recently just picked up a medium format Pentax 645nii film camera. I wanted to test some film and speeds and ended up having an impromptu photo session! I have to say, these pictures of Valerie with her oldest daughter Ava are absolutely precious. Enjoy!

Adam & Belén Father's Day Pictures

I have been way behind on posting on the blog. And it's not because I haven't been busy shooting, I have! But we are also in the process of moving out of state so it has been quite hectic lately. So throughout the next week or so you'll see pictures from a wedding to a first communion to just a random unplanned mother daughter shoot.

Below I'll be sharing some of my favorite pictures from Adam and Belén's Father's Day session. These will be a mix of digital and medium format film. The digital images were shot on a Nikon D850 and 85mm f and the film was shot on a Pentax 645nii. I hope you enjoy!

Lee Family First Communion Photo Session

A couple of weeks ago I got to shoot some first communion family photos for this pretty young lady and their family. I am so thankful for my wonderful Erik who gave me the honor of photographing this special day for him and his family. We did this entire session on film, and bravely on film that was expired. I have to say, not so bad considering the film was expired!

Weekly Photo Favorites

I have been a little behind on this, but here are some of my favorites from the past few weeks. We've been incredibly busy between being away for a few weeks and then Belén's birthday in the beginning of the month (I will be creating separate posts from our trip to Arizona and from her birthday). I hope you enjoy!

Belén's 2nd Birthday Pictures

Today my little baby isn't such a little baby anymore! Belén is two, which also means we managed to keep a kid alive for two years. Who would've thought?! (Just kidding!) All joking aside, I had a really fun time taking her pictures. Kids, particularly toddlers, are usually hard to shoot because they want to do their own thing. But this ended up working out for me and is probably (for me anyway) the best way to work with toddlers. The second I would attempt to tell her to do something, she'd turn and run away. So I ended up not telling her to do much except play with the balloon. And I have to say, I think the photos game out awesome! Belén sure knows how to ham it up for pictures, but that's because she's used to my sticking my camera in her face all the time. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do!

Easter Egg Dying with Belén

We live in an interfaith household as I was raised Catholic and my husband was raised Jewish, and in a few days we will be celebrating Passover and Easter. While my husband and I are not religious, we do feel it is important that our daughter is raised knowing the traditions and faith of each religion. Dying eggs has long been a spring tradition that is connected to Easter, but it's true roots (e.g. Pagan or Christian) are something unknown and there are some theories as to how dying eggs came about. Either way, it is still a fun tradition to do every year around this time especially with the younger ones. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Carter Family Holiday Photo Session

The lovely Carters have let me take their holiday photos and some more of Dylan's first photos. It was just a few weeks ago when I was joining them in the hospital taking pictures of Dylan's first 48 hours of life. And here we are, it's almost the holidays! It was quite the day with some hiccups and not everything went as planned, but you couldn't tell from the photos. I always enjoy taking their photos for them and glad I did another session with them to treasure their memories.
